This one made me smile...

While reading this Carnaby Fudge post after following a link from The Smallest Minority, I read a comment that quoted a news story referring to a "model 98 bolt-action assault rifle" (aka old surplus Mauser). It probably had one of those scary features like a bayonet lug, too. And yes, it was a news story out of Chicago.

OMG...it's so true...I hate the "drive by media" and how they report stories about "weapons!"

I am a collector, but if I'm ever "raided," for whatever reason, the local news would report about how many guns I had. "What does a guy need with that many guns?"

Because I like them! How many Hot Wheels do you have?

You're so right. I've seen it happen here in SoCal. Cops busted into the wrong house on a no-knock warrant, killed the homeowner, then tried to make it sound suspicious that this dude had 3 guns. Your last sentence was repeated almost word-for-word at a press conference after the fact...

Dudes, if they ever bust into my place they'll shit themselves. By the way, I just found out that my new Garand has arrived. My buddy Dave in Gatesville called me in class all giddy, tellin' me how purdy it is. I'll post pictures eventually.
