Et tu, Greenspan?
Via Drudge, I read that Greenspan is piling on Bush, hopping on the bandwagon as it were. Now, I have my problems with Bush - mainly with regards to the immigration fiasco that passes as current policy - but the Iraq war isn't one of them. Apparently Greenspan buys into the old liberal "war for oil" mantra, which is too bad. I have a lot of respect for this guy - our economy and our country prospered with him at the helm - but expertise in matters financial does not make him an expert in all things, and I think he's stepped out of his realm a little here. Of course, this is America, so he can say whatever the hell he wants.

My reaction mirrors your own. I've always viewed Greenspan as a very constant, steady person, one generally not given to making provocative statements. Here, however, he seems to have gone into full-on wiener mode, determined to take a political side. I find this disappointing, to say the least.
But yeah, that's free speech fer ya: he has the right to not remain silent. He has the right to be a jackass.
I fell out with Bush early on...when he put a tariff on imported steel. I agreed with the tax cuts which is probably the only thing he has done right.
The GOP had the ways and means to make a change in the direction this country is header..downward into socialism. But instead congress padded the pig and drove the country farther into debt and Bush refused to veto a spending bill that had enough bacon to grease the skids into national bankruptcy.
I voted for the man..twice..and given the options I had I would do it again although someone would have to clean the puke out of the polling booth after I left..it would make me sick
I'm with you on the steel tariffs, GuyK. That kind of stuff is typically the realm of the Democrats. It was surprising and disappointing to see a Republican president deal a blow to free trade. He's not perfect - there's a few things that he and I don't see eye-to eye on - but he's infinitely preferable to anyone the Dems came up with.
